Happy Thanksgiving!

Forgive me for being a bad "blogger"! I promise that one of my New Years Resolutions is to get better!!

About a year ago, Greg was in a local charity golf tournament where he bid on a house in Winter Park, CO for a week. Much to our surprise, HE WON! So, since the house slept over 20, we decided to invite both of our families for a vacation to celebrate Thanksgiving 2010.
Fast forward a year...we finally got to make our trip! We were so happy to be welcomed to Winter Park with LOTS of snow! Those of us on the McAdams side, had not experienced snow like this (Houston snow doesn't count).

We enjoyed every bit of the cold weather (even when it got into the negative). Jill, Tommy, Laura, Claire & I learned to ski, while Greg & Geoff hit the big slopes. We braved some blistering winds to tube the Fraser Tubing Hill and experienced snowmobiling at its finest.

My brother-in-law's girlfriend, Laura, and I fixed our first of hopefully MANY Thanksgiving meals together. And if I do say so myself, it was pretty darn good! We spent many hours around the table playing dominos & Thanksgiving Day was completed with an amazing Aggie win over t.u!

Here's a pic of the entire family (both sides), minus Laura who was feeling under the weather that day.

Overall, we had a wonderful time spending the holiday with our families! Greg & I have had such a big year with so much to be thankful for... a new marriage, new house, and new memories together! We are looking forward to the Christmas season and wish each and every one of you a blessed Holiday!

Welcome to the World, Baby Cayden!

Congratulations to Brandon and Britney Sheffler as they welcomed their first baby, Cayden Michael Sheffler, to the world on Wednesday. Cayden was happy and healthy, weighing in at 8lbs, 8oz. Greg & I got to stop by and see him tonight and really enjoyed holding and cuddling him :-) Mom and Baby (and Daddy) are all doing great!

If it wasn't for this cute little guy's parents, Greg & I would not be together.

Who would have thought these two were partying fraternity brothers 5 years ago???

Does he look like a natural? (no not yet, but one day)

Searchin' for my lost shaker of salt!

This past weekend, we took part in a Smith/ Holloway tradition"...the Jimmy Buffett concert in Frisco, TX. Greg & I had a great time hanging out with family and friends and kicking back and relaxing. You would never know we had "relaxed" by the pain we both had in our legs from standing on concrete all day!

I was lucky enough to get a close up glimpse of Mr. Buffett himself! His motorcade drove by us...well actually almost mowed us down! That's him on the other side of the vehicle...he was hanging out the window waving at all the Parrotheads :-)

Ready for the concert with Geoff & Laura

Jimmy & the Coral Reefers put on a great show, as usual! He played all of our favorites and we can't wait until next year's show!

Road Trip to Round Top

On Saturday, we did a McAdams, Scillian, and now Smith family tradition. Unfortunately, Greg did not get to join us as he was in Temple visiting his Mimi who is in the hospital. So, all 7 of us piled into Dad's Suburban and drove up to Round Top, TX. For those of you who have never been to Round Top, I highly recommend it...totally worth the beautiful drive! The real reason we go is to eat at Royer's Round Top Cafe! This little eclectic mom & pop eatery has great food and lots of conversation starters on their walls (and ceiling). And I can't forget to mention the pies! Their pies are to die for!! The chocolate chip pie is my personal favorite (don't forget the ice cream).

Well, the weather was gorgeous so we got some great pictures...even caught the end of bluebonnet season!

Boilin' up some Cajun Goodness

Greg has been talking about having a summer-time shrimp boil since the day we moved into the new house. So, I told him we needed to have a practice run first so he could perfect his boiling technique. This past Saturday, we enjoyed the cool spring weather on the back porch while enjoying some cold beer and watching a pot of shrimp boil.

Side note: Greg's brother, Geoff gave us the outdoor burner for a wedding present and this was the perfect opportunity to try it out. Thanks Geoff for the great gift!

Here's Greg trying to get the burner lit...

And all the yummy goodness to go along with the shrimp...

I was such a great supervisor!

Dropping in the shrimp...

And the finished product! Bon appetite!

Since the dry run was a raving success, be on the lookout for your invitation to the Smith Family Shrimp Boil later this summer!!

Girls (and little baby boy) night!

Well, here I go on a blogging binge again...

This past week, my high school friend, Angela, made a visit to Spring for Easter. We finally found some time to get together for some good girl talk and to play with her handsome new baby boy, Jack! And I have to say...WHAT A CUTIE!! He was so good and tolerated being handed around between all of us while we caught up.

Here is a close up of Mr. Handsome, himself!

Mr. B came to visit too. Here he is with his mama! You can tell he was pooped from playing with his friends, Prissy & Vegas :-)

I had such a good time holding the little guy. Thank you so much Angela for coming by and sharing your beautiful baby boy!

Greg's Honeymoon Project

I love those names spelled from pictures you see out there. My friends, Kelly & Austin, have one, and my friend Michelle just bought her husband one for Valentines Day. Greg and I decided to buy these for our parents and give to them the night before our wedding. That night, our minister, Rev. Charles Ruehl, recommended we try to create our own with pictures from our Honeymoon. What a great idea and great memory from our trip!

Greg did such a great job with this little project. We enjoyed finding different letters throughout our time in Costa Rica. is the finished product! I think we did a pretty good job!!

Getting Primed for Spring Time

Just in time for the weather to warm up, Greg & I bought some patio furniture for our covered porch (my favorite part of our house). Greg was a great hubby and put it together for me last Sunday. Here he is working ever so hard.

Vegas enjoyed the afternoon in the backyard with us
And the finished product!! We're looking forward to enjoying some cool evenings (Haha!) on the porch. Please come visit us so we can sit outside and enjoy it!!

Super Bowl Sunday

As I attempt to catch up on my blogging, I will revert back to early February. Greg & I decided to invite some good friends over to watch the Super Bowl. Since our house is still pretty new, we thought this was a great way to show our friends the new casa. A great time was had by everyone. Thanks everyone for coming by to join in the festivities!!

This was my attempt at a football cake. Aren't I getting so domestic in my old married days :-)

Although Claire didn't know much about football, she made many friends by the end of the night...I think almost everyone got a colored picture to take home with them!

Painting the town...BLUE!!

Last weekend, Greg & I went through the newlyweds' rite of passage and worked on our first home project together. We knew we wanted to paint a few rooms but spontaneously decided to do it ourselves. We had a good time painting and being silly together. There's still a few more places we'd like to paint, but after putting in that hard work, I think we'll call a professional for the next go-round ;-)

Here's Greg working on the master bedroom.
I thought I'd surprise Greg with a little message on the dining room wall...

The finished project in the dining room!!

Not quite ready for reality...

We had a wonderful time in Costa Rica. Our time was spent in the Guanacaste region of the country where we stayed at the beautiful Riu resort. Of course there was lots of fun, food and fruity cocktails, but above all, we got some much needed rest!

The scenery in Costa Rica is gorgeous! It's a mixture of a beach paradice and a lush jungle. This is a view on the beach of resort where we spent some time.

The first night we were there, I managed to get ambitious and enter a dance contest! My new hubby was reluctant to enter with me so the staff set me up with Pepito, my new Bulgarian friend. And guess what...WE WON! I got a lovely Riu t-shirt that can now fit Claire after one washing :)

As you can probably tell, little sunscreen was used on day one. So the next day, I was at the gift shop buying $30 sunscreen.

One day, we took a bus trip to a national park for a "Jungle Cruise". It was the REAL version of the Disney theme park ride. We got up close and personal with alligators, birds, iguanas, and lots of white faced monkeys! This picture was taken at a sugar cane plantation we "pit stopped" on the way. It was absolutely beautiful and we got to see sugar cane processed the old-fashioned way...with a cow!

One night, we entertained ourselves by walking down the beach in the dark looking for turtles. We didn't see any turtles, but we did get some fun photos and Greg got two bloody toes when he stubbed them on something in the sand. Lesson learned...take a flashlight!

Our final day in Costa Rica, after a lot of recommendations, we decided to zipline through the canopy. It was BY FAR our favorite excursion on the trip. If you get the opportunity to do it, you should take advantage of it. The locals who ran the company really had a great time scaring me and the other girls as we hung 5o + feet above the ground. I included a really cool video of Greg's experience. It was something we will never forget...even got to play with some monkeys at the end of the trip (a little freaky, but fun).

These little guys were a lot of fun, but quite sneaky! The guys working there told us to empty our pockets and take out my earrings before going into the cage. So, the first thing the monkey did was jump on my head and take out my ponytail holder. What a little thief! The one I am holding loved to be held just like a baby. I wanted to take him home!

Overall, we had a great time on our honeymoon! What a wonderful way to get my first stamp on my passport...with my new husband! We had such a good time and it made it hard to get back to the real world!
