Game Day with the Family

Yesterday, Greg & I took a road trip with my entire family to see the Aggies play the Missouri Tigers. We had bought my co-workers season tickets for this game, so then we were able to find 3 more seats in the same section on Stubhub. It was our nieces', Kate & Claire, first game, so it was fun to see all the excitement through their little eyes. I had t-shirt dresses made for them by my friend, Dolores. And they turned out adorable on them! The fall weather was wonderful but the outcome of the game could have been a little better. Don't get me started... Anyways, all in all, it was a great day!

This little boy was adorable! He was dressed up as a Corp of Cadets member! I'm not sure if this was his Halloween costume or just his game day get-up, but either way, he looked great!

I caught this picture while we were waiting on the rest of the family to get a drink. Greg is so great with our nieces and this is just proof. How cute does she look just talking to Uncle Greg!? I'm not sure what the conversation was about, but I love this picture so much!

It's Friday...and it's Boob Tube Babble

Happy Friday Everyone! Today I'm linking up with Neely again at A Complete Waste of Make up for Boob Tube Babble!

Boob Tube Babble

Well, we had a non-eventful weekend last week, so I was able to catch up on my DVR between college football games. So, here's what I'm digging this week:

Like Neely, I'm totally into Revenge! I love how it has Rebecca from Brother & Sisters (oh how I miss that show)! She's so vindictive, but I love every second of it since she's getting justice for her family. And the scenery in the Hamptons is absolutely gorgeous (Greg, we need a summer home there...ha ha).

I'm still totally liking this show, but I have to say, I lost confidence in it this week. We found which 16 contestants would be competing in the live shows. And I totally disagree with a couple of their choices.

Exhibit A- Dexter Haygood

This guy is a trainwreck...and a one trick pony. "James Brown" will only get you so far in life and the competition. I honestly think Nicole was afraid he'd go off the deep end and drown himself in her pool if she didn't pick him. We'll see how long he stays.

Exhibit B- Simone Battle

This girl is the cockiest diva I have ever seen. Not sure who she thinks she is, but she's not nearly as good as she thinks she is (Sweetie, you are no Beyonce). Here's hoping she gets a dose of reality soon enough.

And poor Caitlyn Koch got robbed. Not only is she gorgeous and athletic, she sings amazingly! I still cannot believe Simon kept Simone over her!

Right now, my money's on Stacy Francis, Drew Ryniewics, and Josh Krajcik. All amazing talents!!

And finally, I watched the season finale of Most Elligible Dallas this week. Greg absolutely hates this show, but to be honest, I think it's my guilty pleasure. I spent the whole season completely annoyed with Courtney & Matt, but then (spoiler alert), when they finally got together, my heart melted. How sweet are they to each other...and further more, they deserve each other. Can't wait to see what happens next season with Tara and Jody, the cheating deejay.

Well, I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend! Until next time...

Welcome to the Weekend!

Well everyone! This week has flown by but I'm not complaining. Nor am I complaining that Greg and I have NOTHING to do but sit around, watch college football, and get some housework done. We've even made some plans to cook out tomorrow and enjoy this nice cool Houston weather. Woo hoo! Considering this is one of our last free weekends until Christmas, I will be soaking it up. So, I will leave you all with a recipe that we tried out last night. I found it on Pinterest and it is one of the easiest, yummiest, versions of Baked Potato Soup that I have ever had. Greg's already requested it be thrown into our rotation :-)

1-30oz bag of shredded hash brown potatoes
3-14oz. cans of chicken broth
1 can of cream of chicken soup
1/2cup diced onion
1/4t. ground pepper
1 pkg cream cheese (don't use fat free because it doesn't melt)

In the crockpot, combine every ingredient EXCEPT the cream cheese. Cook on low for 6-8 hours. An hour before serving, add the cream cheese, let it melt and stir. Top with cheddar cheese, bacon bits, and chives. Yummy!!

Happy Weekend, Y'all!!

Oh, to be 5 again...

A few weeks ago, I fulfilled my birthday promise to my niece, Claire. We started Friday evening off with dinner at the Black Walnut with Uncle Greg, a stop for ice cream, and a quick trip to Walmart to get stuff for breakfast and a Barbie treat for Miss Claire.

The next morning, Claire & I got up really early to make pancakes. She was such a good helper in the kitchen!

Later that day, we went to Sweet & Sassy for a pint-sized make-over for Claire, complete with pedicure, manicure, make-up and up-do. She enjoyed every second of becoming glamorous and I love watching her enjoy it.

We had such a good time, let's just hope I haven't started something, if you know what I mean :-) Now, when does she go to her first homecoming, again?

Battle of the Piney Woods (and a recipe!)

Last year, Greg's alma mater, Sam Houston State, started playing their rival, Stephen F. Austin State, at Reliant Stadium here in Houston. So, along with our friends and Greg's parents, we started a tradition of going to the game and tailgating beforehand. This year, our tailgate grew by people and set-up. The weather wasn't on our side, but with this drought, we didn't complain or let it dampen our spirits. Sam won the game everyone had a great time celebrating some good ole Texas college football.

For the tailgate, I made a recipe I had seen on Mama Laughlin, another blog I follow. It had been a hit at her tailgate so I thought I'd try it out on mine. The recipe was for Paula Deen's Corn Salad...I mean, you can't go wrong with Paula Deen, right? Well, the salad was a hit and was completely gobbled up by the day's end. So, here you go...I hope you enjoy!

2- 15oz cans of kernel corn, drained
2 cups grated cheddar cheese
1 cup mayonaise
1 cup green bell pepper, chopped
1/2 cup red onion, chopped
1- 10 1/2 oz bag of Chili Cheese Fritos, coarsely crushed

Mix first 5 ingredients and chill. Stir in Fritos just before serving.

Just a Cruisin'...

This past week, Greg & I joined his brother, Geoff, and his girlfriend, Laura, on a 7 night cruise of the caribbean. We started the week with two days at sea which included lots of sunshine, a few "boat drinks" and some luck (and some non-luck) in the casino.

Bon Yoyage!!

Enjoying some fun in the sun

Me & Laura on "Elegant Night"

Our first port of call was Nassau, The Bahamas. I had been back in '99, but a lot had changed, so I was excited to go back. We enjoyed a full day at the beautiful Atlantis resort, taking advantage of their beautiful beaches, water park and aquarium. We loved hanging out there and Greg & I would consider a trip back there in a heartbeat!

Welcome to the Bahamas!

The next day, we arrived on Grand Bahamian island. We really didn't have any excursions planned so after being directed to a less than desirable beach, we spent the afternoon enjoying some yummy Bahamian beers and the fresh ocean air.

Dinner on the boat

On Friday, we arrived in Key West, Florida where little did Laura know, Geoff had a surprise in store for her birthday! We started the day off at the best little dive for breakfast and then jumped on Famous Conch Train tour for a quick tour of the city.

Geoff popped the question and Laura said yes! Greg & I are so excited to be getting a little sister!!

We finished the day celebrating at a few famous bars; Captain Tony's, Margaritaville, and Sloppy Joes's (Hemingway's favorite hangout).

We had such a wonderful time on the cruise and celebrating with Geoff and Laura. Now we are looking forward to their wedding and all the festivities that go along!
