Fabulous Holiday Challenge- Day 3

Today's Holiday Challenge over at Neely's A Complete Waste of Makeup is about Holiday Decor.

Fabulous Holiday Blog Challenge

I have always loved to decorate for Christmas. I was always the one up in the attic with Mom the day after Thanksgiving. Now that I have my own house, I've had to gradually increase my decorations to fill this house. This year, I completely forgot that we bought a taller Christmas tree after Christmas last year. I was so excited when we pulled the box down!!

Fabulous Holiday Challenge- Days 1 & 2 Favorite Gift & Favorite Holiday Tradition

I'm once again playing catch up...but I'm happy to linking up with Neely Amber for their Fabulous Holiday Challenge. I'll just be combining days 1 & 2 :)

Fabulous Holiday Blog Challenge

I have to say that Santa has been pretty good to me over the years, but my favorite, most memorable gift was the board game Mall Madness. I remember a gift showing up under our tree a few days before Christmas. Apparently, Santa was having a hard time making this gift and one of his Elf's had to help track it down. I can remember playing that game for hours and giggling like crazy when the funny voice would say "There's a sale at the Kitchen Store". I think I found it particularly cool because you got to use credit cards. How naive I was ;-)

As for my favorite holiday traditions...I'd have to say that they have changed since I became a Mrs. As a child, my favorite tradition was getting to open one gift from Mom & Dad on Christmas Eve and then heading off to church in our Christmas finest. The gift was usual pajamas or something we could wear to church that night. I loved coming home after church and watching the "Santa report" on the nightly news and then snuggling in my warm cozy bed.

Now that I am also a part of Greg's family, and we have our own home, traditions have changed somewhat. Although I still look forward to Christmas Eve service no matter where we are (we even went one year in NYC!), I would say that my favorite tradition with my family is the adult gift exchange. Once my first niece was born, we decided to draw names between the adults and just spoil the kiddos.

With Greg's family, my favorite holiday tradition is the egg nog. Although me & his stepdad, Bob are the only ones that like it, it's still amazing! Bob sure knows how to doctor it up and make it yummy! So, I always look forward to an eggnog surprise when we go to their house and then our gift exchange in the morning.

Rock-a-Bye Baby

This past Saturday, we had a Rock-n-Roll baby shower for my best friend, Liz, and her soon-to-be-arriving little girl, Adelina! Liz has always been the life of the party and has been known to put on a "hair brush concert" at any given moment, so what better theme than "Rock-a-Bye Baby". I shared the hosting duties with our friend, Kelly, and two other friend of Liz's, Korista & Ashley. All the ladies enjoyed a big spread of appetizers and some wine & champagne cocktails. Liz received all kinds of goodies for Miss Lina, including her very own "vintage" New Kids on the Block onesie! Liz has always been their biggest fan (she & I even saw them on their most recent reunion tour!), so I knew the obsession needed to be passed down. I love Liz like a sister and cannot wait to meet her first born!!

For Which we are Truly Thankful

Well, Halloween is behind us and we can look forward to the Holiday season! I have to say that November is one of my favorite months here in Texas. Beautiful weather, pumpkin lattes, family, holidays, kicking off the Christmas shopping, and so much to be thankful for. The other day, while talking to one of my coworkers, we agreed that we are so thankful for our jobs. Sometimes it gets tough and stressful, but at the end of the day, in this time of economic trouble, we are so lucky to be employed by a company that we love. So, that made me think...I need to put everything that I am thankful for into writing during this month of gratitude.

I am thankful for my husband, Greg. I love the way he makes me laugh and smile when I need it the most. I am thankful for his strong work ethic and desire to provide for our family. I am so glad that God put Greg in my life at the right time and I look forward to so many great years ahead.

I am thankful for my loving family and for everything they have done for me. I am thankful for the upbringing I have received and for the support they provide me whenever I need it. I could not ask for anything more!

I am thankful for Greg's family. I could not have gotten luckier in the in-law department. Bob & Cindy and the rest of the family have truly welcomed me as one of their own. I know that they would do anything for us in a time of need and I would definitely do the same for them!

I am thankful for my great friends! Between all of them, I have some pretty wonderful memories! Whether these girls have been in my life for 20 years or 2, they are so precious to me and I know they are going to be there for me whenever I need them.

I am so grateful for our home and our great neighborhood. Greg and I have been so blessed with terrific neighbors and think of them as our extended family. This was so important to me when we were looking to move and I feel that we got so lucky with the friends we have met!

Of course there is so much more in my life that I am thankful for, but this is simply a start. I may have to do a part 2 later in the month!

Show us your Life: Non-Mommy Bloggers

Happy Friday Everyone! Today I'm linking up with Kelly's Corner
for Show us your Life: Non-Mommy Bloggers. For those of you visiting from Kelly's blog, welcome to my little corner of the world!

A little about me...I'm a 30 year old gal from Texas, married to my best friend for almost two years. I enjoy my job (because I love the people I work with), my family, my dogs (Prissy & Vegas), traveling, playing with my two beautiful nieces, and just spending time with my neighbors and friends. Although I'm a "non-mommy" right now, building a family is definitely on mine and my hubby's radar. We're hoping God has a plan for us and our future babies.

When I started blogging, I just kind of did it to do it. I didn't expect anyone to read it but family and I wasn't very consistent. Then I discovered other people's blogs. And the obsession began :-) I love keeping up with my friends and family through their blogs and I love taking a peek into other women's live. I love how some of them are from similar backgrounds as me and I love reading those who lead completely different lives than we do. I tend to find inspiration from these ladies in everything they do from raising gorgeous children, planning fabulous parties, going on mission trips,... I could go on. And for the most part, they have shown me how to be a better blogger. I try now to blog a few times a week when we have important events going on in our lives. I also love linking up with other blogs in hopes that I will build some "blogger" friendships out there.

Thanks again for stopping by and I hope to see you back soon!

It's OK Thursday

Its Ok Thursdays

Hey y'all! It's Thursday which means two things in my book...tomorrow's Friday and today is "It's Ok Thursday"! I'm excited to be linking up with Neely again over at A Complete Waste of Makeup. So here it goes...

It's OK...

That we didn't get much rain last night because today's weather is GORGEOUS!

To clean your purse out on company time

That I'm putting off my "What I'm thankful for" blog post because I just can't get my thoughts in order

To be calling Christmas light installation services because we just don't have the patience to do it as pretty

That I want to put up our tree ASAP

To be behind on housework and laundry because there's just so much good stuff on the dvr

To be embarassed at the hot mess that is my dog's hair right now (she's scheduled to be groomed on Saturday)

To be super excited about Starbucks RED cups...that means Christmas ya'll!

To already be thinking about (aka stressing about) New Years Eve plans (not my favorite holiday)

So what's okay with you guys today?

Xoxo,
