It's Okay Thursday

Its Ok Thursdays

Happy Thursday Everyone!!  It's been a quiet week at work and and even quieter week at home.  I'm so ready for my hubs to get home from hunting.  I can only talk to the dogs so much.  Well, on with It's Okay Thursday with Neely & Amber.

It's Okay...

...to already miss Christmas just a little bit

...to lock yourself out of your house last night with no cell phone in hand, have to hop the fence in dress shoes and quickly realize everyone who has your spare key are OUT OF TOWN!! (Don't worry...I managed to break into Mom & Dad's house to get a key...hee hee)

...to have skipped out on most of my workouts this week just because my gym is closed (but I'm a member of 2 other gyms)...Oh well, there's always New Years

...to be sick of all my shows being on holiday hiatus

...to want to shout it from the roof tops, even though I can't

...to enjoy working this week because there's no one here and traffic is AMAZING!

...to be looking forward to a 3 day week next week and a trip to SHSU's championship football game in Frisco

...to be looking forward to a low key New Years Eve more than I've ever looked forward to New Years Eve before

I hope you all have a Happy Friday tomorrow and enjoy (and be safe) over the New Years weekend!

Christmas back Home

After a fun few days in Temple, Greg and I packed up the dogs and all of our new goodies and headed back home.  We made it home with just enough time to unload the car and get dressed for dinner and church.  By this time, it was raining cats and dogs outside, but we braved it to meet up with my family.

Dinner with the nieces, Kate & Claire

After church, Greg and I went over to our neighbors', Jodi & Alan, for a Christmas Eve open house.  We were exhausted after a long day of traveling and celebrating, so we didn't get to stay long.  Plus, we had to get in bed before Santa Claus came!  But it was so nice to wish our neighbors a Merry Christmas and enjoy their company for a little bit!

Sunday morning, I got up and made some homemade cinnamon rolls that I had seen on Pinterest.  They didn't turn out nearly as pretty as the online picture, but they tasted delicious!  They were pretty complicated to make, so I'm not sure I'll be attempting them again any time soon.

When Greg got up, we exchanged our gifts to each other before getting dressed to head out for lunch at my Mom & Dad's.  I have to say that he listens so well when it comes to gifts!  Everything I got was exactly what I wanted.  I plan on doing another blog on our Christmas loot, so for now, you just get my no-makeup gift opening pictures :-)

Then we got dressed and went to have lunch and exchange gifts with my family.  My Mom had done a beautiful job decorating and making the table festive for lunch.
Our stockings are rapidly increasing

Miss Claire got a guitar...now she thinks she's Taylor Swift! :-)

What a fun day of eating, exchanging gifts and celebrating the season with my family!  They are all a blessing to us!

Christmas in Temple

I went back to work today and have officially gotten back into the "swing" of things after a wonderful, extended Christmas weekend.  Tonight I'm a "hunting window" so I'm taking advantage of the quiet house to catch up on the DVR, laundry and blogging.  I know Greg is enjoying his "man time" with my Dad, and I can't wait for him to get home so I can hear about the hunt.

Well, we started off our Christmas celebrations by heading to Greg's Mom and Step-dad's in Temple on Wednesday evening after work.  The much needed Texas rain did not make for optimal traveling weather all weekend, but we made it work.  We spent lots of time running around finishing up some last minute shopping, stopping by to visit his Dad, and seeing other family members.  Greg's Mom made a yummy ham dinner on Friday night and his Grandma and Granddad came over and ate with us.

On Saturday morning, Christmas Eve, we all go up just like it was Christmas, for breakfast and present opening.  I even caught "Santa" filling our stockings when I got up to let the dogs out ;-)

Check out all this loot!
Greg got his Beats headphones
Raquel got the CUTEST boots!

We were sorry we had to hit the road early on Saturday, but we had such a great trip!  We are so blessed to have family like that and we love them all so much!

2011 Christmas Cards

I love Christmas!  And I really love Christmas cards!!  Every year since Greg & I got engaged, we have done holiday pictures and I have spent time designing our Christmas card.  I'm very traditional and always love going with the Christmas red & green color scheme.  Every day during December, I hurry home to see what cards came in the mail that day.  So, many of our friends are having babies so I love seeing all of their little ones in the Christmas cards.

This year, we did professional pictures with my whole family back in November so Greg & I luckily got a good one of the two of us.  Then, I ordered my cards through Erin Condren because I'm absolutely in LOVE with her stuff!  So fun and whimsical!!

Today, I'm linking up with Faith for her Christmas Card Carousel.  If you're like me and love seeing all the Christmas pictures and holiday designs, head on over and check them out!

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year from our family to yours!!

My Best Friend's a MOMMY!!!

On Monday morning, I woke up to a text message from my best friend in the whole world, Liz, that her water had broke the night before and she was headed to the hospital.  I don't know about you, but that is the best way to start a Monday :)  Liz and I met in the 6th grade and have been through thick and thin for about the last 16 years.  Anyways, her due date wasn't until Christmas Eve and when she got to the hospital, they told her she really wasn't even in labor.  So, since her water had broke, they went ahead and induced her.

Well....
Miss Adelina Lucille Johnson was born that afternoon weighing 7 lbs, 4 oz.  She is just as beautiful as her Mommy in every way!

Greg and I got to stop by for a visit last night (excuse the "post boot camp look") and love on Miss Lina for a little bit.  She and Mommy (and Daddy too) are doing great and will get to go home today so she can meet her big furry brother, Moose.

Liz & Chris, you mean the world to us and we cannot be happier for you guys!  I'm so excited to see us moving into the next phase of our lives!  You two are already amazing parents!

It's never too early to get some practice, right?

Christmas Party Time

Saturday night was the annual Christmas party of one of my Dad's best friends and former business partners.  He and his wife have a beautiful home that they decorate fabulously for the holidays.  They always have a big crowd with lots of good food and Mr. Claus himself!  This year, it happened to be the same night as Jill's work Christmas party, so the plan was for Mom, Dad, Greg & myself to take the girls.  Well, Mom got sick on Saturday, so she could not join us.  The girls love telling Santa what they wanted (Again, just in case he forgot) and playing with all the other kiddos.  This Christmas party is special to me because I can remember going to it when I was a kid and how magical it was when Santa showed up at the door.

The whole gang

And even big kids get to sit on Santa's lap!

The Leibster Blog Award

Last week, I was surprised and so happy to find out I received my first Blog award! I figured this was nowhere near in my blogging future.  Well, Emily at Bases Loaded thinks enough of my little blog to give me the Liebster Blog Award!  Emily and I know each other in real life.  She is the sister-in-law of my college roommate, Megan.  Emily used to come to College Station to visit her brother and hang out with us.  We've reconnected as "big kids" through our blogs.  Emily and her husband live in Dallas with their precious pup, Ollie.  Thank you so much, Emily, for the kind honor!  Now, go on over and check out her great blog!!

So here is what the Liebster Blog is all about:

The Liebster Blog Award is given to up and coming
bloggers who have less than 200 followers.
Liebster is a German word meaning 'dear, sweet, kind, nice, good,
beloved, lovely, kindly, pleasant, valued, cute, endearing and welcome'.

To keep this award going (by passing along to other new deserving blogs),
the recipient must now recognize five other bloggers with less than 200 followers
that have really stood out in the crowd.

The rules for the Liebster Award are:
1. Thank the person who gave the award and link back to their blog.
2. Reveal your top 5 picks and let them know!
3. Copy and paste the award on your blog post.
4. Have faith that your followers will spread the love too!

So, here are my choices to receive this award...

1. Our Lovely Life
Lindsay is my was my first "non-real life" blog friend.  She actually found my blog through a link up on Kelly's Corner, and commented on my post.  Ever since, I have been keeping up with her blog.  She & I are both from the same city and seem to have way more in common than our first names.  We're both semi-newlyweds (your considered that until you have kids, right :)?), love our doggies and love blogging!  Lindsay is also in a Houston Bloggers group that I am so tempted to join.  They look like they have so much fun!

I actually found Britney's blog through Lindsay's (see above).  Although we don't know each other, we both live in the same city and are both Aggie fans.  That's reason enough to follow :)  She & her husband are the cutest couple and I love seeing all the fun stuff they do.

I actually know Michelle in real life.  Our hubbies were fraternity brothers back in the day, and we're fellow Aggies (Gig'em!). She's a great mommy blogger and I love seeing her update on her little boy and their family.
Kelly & I have been great friends for about the last 17 years.  She has a brand new baby girl and I love reading her posts about her family, decor, entertaining, and more!  Kelly also loves taking pictures so you can always count on some great shots on her blog.

5. The Jesulaitis Journal
Angela is a sweet friend of mine from high school.  She and her husband live in the Dallas area with their 2 year old son.  And they are anxiously awaiting the birth of their daughter.  I love keeping up with Angela onher blog since I don't get to see her that often.

Eat'em Up Kats!

Saturday, we went up to Huntsville, TX to watch Greg's alma mater, Sam Houston State's, football team take on Montana State in the FCS quarter finals.  It was a nice cool day, so it was perfect football weather! Bowers Stadium had one of it's largest crowds and the Bearkats did an amazing job winning 49-13!

Greg even got some new game day footwear (his pants aren't really that short...he's pulling them up to show off the shoes :)

Bob & Cindy

Greg and his Red Solo Cup

Geoff & Laura

And the final score!!!

Next week they will take on Montana in the Semi-Finals and then hopefully on to Frisco for the Championship Game!  Come on Kats!  We know you can do it!
