Oh, How Pinteresting!

Hey everyone!  For those of you in Texas...How 'bout this weather??  I'm loving the rain, but it makes me want to do nothing.  Well, today I'm linking up with Michelle at The Vintage Apple for "Oh How Pinteresting".  Like I said last week, I've been working on some Pinterest creations of my own, but I have a few finishing touches to put on them before I can unveil them on my blog... Oh the suspense ;-)  Until then, here are a few of my favorite Pins of late.  Most of these are clothes...summer clothes at that.  I guess I'm thinking if we're not going to get cold weather, just bring on the warm ("warm" that is...not "hot").

And Finally... (I've needed this reminder lately)

What I'm Loving Wednesday

Happy Hump Day, Y'all!  Today, I'm linking up with Jamie for "What I'm Loving Wednesday"!  I read tons of these "What I'm Loving" link ups and figured, why not tell the blogesphere what I'm lovin' these days??

Right now, I'm truly loving HEB's Cafe Ole Taste of Texas Houston Blend Coffee (whoa that's a mouthful!).  And even better...they make it in DECAF now!!  My coworkers have been bringing it in for a while and I fell in love, but when I switched to decaf, I had to lay off.  Now, I can have my own cup at home every morning of this coconutty goodness!  Sidenote:  I find it very strange that their "Houston Blend" would be coconut- based.

Pinterest is something that I have been loving for some time now, but lately, I've been doing some very "Pinteresting" things around the house.  I promise to do a separate post about my creations very soon when I get some good pictures.  Where else can you plan your week's meals, decorate for your party this weekend, and dress your future children all in one place???  Whoever thought up the concept deserves the Nobel Peace Prize...just sayin'.   My only suggestion to the Pinterest Peeps (if they happen to read my blog...haha), is to allow for "Private" boards.  I mean, who wants all their guests to see their entire wedding before attending, or who wants the world to see ideas for a surprise party.

Okay, so I feel like I'm late to the party on this one, but I am 3/4 of the way through "The Help" and LOVE IT!  Long story short...I started this book forever ago, read about half, and then misplaced it.  So, by the time I decided to start up again and buy the Kindle version, I forgot where I was and started over.  But, it was totally worth a second read.  The plot is great and I love hearing about the south during that period (must be my Mississippi roots).  And what a great message!!  I'm DYING to see the movie!  It's in my Netflix queue so I have to read fast.  Oh, and I have since found my hard copy in with my cookbooks of all places.

Happy 2nd Anniversary To Us!!

Two years ago today, I married the man of my dreams!  (and two years ago today, the Houston weather was about 50 degrees colder than it is today!)  What a ride it has been!  So much has happened and I love Greg more and more every day!  I cannot wait to see what year #3 has in store for us!!

Good Luck Bearkats!

This weekend is a big weekend for my husband, Greg!  His alma mater, Sam Houston State University's, football team has made it to the Football Championship Subdivision Finals!  So, today we're headed to Frisco, Texas to watch the Bearkats take on North Dakota State tomorrow.  Let's hope they can hold on to their #1 ranking!  We've had the opportunity to watch them in a few games this season and they are great!  What an exciting season for them!!

So, I'm looking forward to our weekend away, seeing my in-laws, and just having a fun football weekend!  And on that note...Good Luck tomorrow to our Houston Texans as they are in the NFL playoffs for the first time in franchise history!!

Welcome 2012!!

Happy New Year, again!  Well, I've had my black eyed peas and cabbage and am ready to take 2012 head on!  Greg and I enjoyed a great New Years Eve with some of our friends and neighbors on Saturday night.  I've also put a little thought into some resolutions for 2012, but more on those in a minute.

On Saturday night, a few of our friends came over to enjoy some appetizers and cocktails.  We then ventured out into our cul-de-sac to pop some fireworks and celebrate with our amazing neighbors.  New Years Eve used to be one of my least favorite days, but since we married, it has become one of my favorites.  Two years ago, we moved into our home on new years eve and had a very small celebration with my brother-in-law, Geoff, and his girlfriend, Laura.  Last year, we started our night with a small get-together with our friends at the house, and then we went outside and actually met all of our neighbors for the first time.  I can honestly say that it was the beginning of a beautiful relationship with them and the "birth" of the "cool-de-sac" (goofy name, but so true :-)  This year, we had some Houston weather at its finest...muggy and not cold at all!  Ugh, excuse the hair in these pics!

Happy New Year
As for resolutions, I'm can't say I'm good at sticking with them.  But it doesn't keep me from setting a few.  First, of course, I want to try to strive to have a healthy lifestyle.  I really would like to continue to cook healthy and eat out less; and of course, make it to the gym more.

Also, this year, I really want to purge our house of some un-needed items.  There is so much that Greg & I brought into the marriage that we have not used during the entire 2 years.  Most of it is in good shape and could be used by someone in need.  Starting tomorrow, I plan to clean out closets to make room for other new items in our lives.

Finally, I am resolving to become a better blogger.  I absolutely love doing it and love the blogger friends that I have made on here.  I promise to work on a new, improved more permanent blog layout.  Hopefully I will have it up and running soon!

So, I know these aren't much, but since I'm not the best at resolutions, I figured I'd better start small.  May you all have a blessed year!  Greg & I have a couple exciting things coming up including our second anniversary.  I promise to post about these fun changes very soon!

Christmas Loot!

Happy New Years Everyone!  I hope everyone has kicked off 2012 with a bang!  I will post my obligatory new years eve/ resolution post later, but for now, I wanted to give you a quick look at some of my stand out Christmas presents!

I have so say...I was somewhat spoiled this year.  Between my hubby, my in laws, my nieces, and my family Secret Santa (my sister), I covered all my bases on my list this year.

Greg & I set a limit this year since I know there are a few expenses in the new year we'll have to take care of.  He bought me a new camera strap for my DSLR.  And I LOVE it!  He was so funny!  He was so embarrassed that he had to open an Etsy account just to buy it :-)  He also bought me "DSLR's for Dummies", per my request.  I better get to studying!

He also got me these precious leopard Sperry ballet flats!  I've already worn them multiple times and they are super comfy!

My in-laws bought me all kinds of stuff like a ceramic bread basket (I was in desperate need of one) and Groupon gift cards (I'm kind of a Groupon junkie), but these black riding boots were amazing!  I have been living in my brown pair and really wanted to add a black pair to my collection.  They are just what I wanted and I have been enjoying wearing them!

For those of you that follow me on Pinterest, you know that I have been eyeing these monogram pendant necklaces for some time.  Well, after Greg tricked me into thinking I was not getting it, I got it from my sister in our secret santa exchange.  It's even more gorgeous in person than I ever imagined!

My nieces gave me a few different thing like a really cool cookbook, some cute tile coasters and this personalized family monogram cutting board.  The colors go perfectly in my kitchen and I've been enjoying using it daily!

I hope Santa brought each of you everything you wanted!  I look forward to seeing some of your goodies!!
