Family Shower in Temple

This past Sunday, Greg's cousins, Melanie, Allison & Kristy, threw me the sweetest baby shower in his hometown!  It was so nice to get together with family and celebrate Little Rhett as we await his arrival.  And it was so exciting to start getting some goodies to fill his drawers and closet with!

I even got a little baby practice with Melanie's new baby girl, Megan, who is only 7 weeks old. She was such a doll and slept through most of the shower.  I can only imagine her & Rhett at Christmas next year.  I'm sure they will have fun together!

I cannot thank these ladies enough for throwing me & Rhett such a nice shower!  Greg is so lucky to have you as cousins and I am even luckier to have married into such a wonderful family!

Seven Months Already??!!!

Third trimester??  No way!  YES WAY!  Where is the time flying?  This past month has been a big one for us.  Rhett's nursery furniture came in, I passed my glucose test (woo hoo!), I had my first shower and the belly definitely POPPED!  Now that we have furniture, I can't wait to share the decorating progress.  Let me get through Thanksgiving and our Babymoon and I promise to give you a glimpse into Rhett's little corner of the house.

How far along -  28 weeks, 4 days
Size -  Baby Smith is about the size of a small pumpkin...weighing in at a whopping 2 1/2 lbs.  I can't believe he's gained about a pound in 3 weeks.
Maternity clothes - Definitely in most maternity clothes.  Luckily with it being fall and cooling off a bit, I can rotate in a couple pre-pregnancy jackets and accessories to change things up.

Weight gain - Still doing well according to the doctor.  I'm honestly not paying too close attention to the number.  Just trying to eat healthy and work in exercise every now and then.
Stretch marks - None so far.

Sleep - Ehhh... not the best.  I'm back to my 2am potty breaks and beginning to feel "uncomfortable" at night.  I know, I still have a long way to go, so I better get used to it.

Movement - Lots of moving and shaking going on in there!  I even got my first kick in the ribs during the football game this weekend.  I think he was happy about the score!

Food I'm loving - I've been on a chocolate milk kick lately.  Yumm-O!

Food I'm hating -Nothing too bad lately.

Symptoms - Still dealing with a stuffy nose, and the indigestion has kicked in.  Tums have been my best friend lately!

Gender - IT'S A BOY! Rhett Warren :-)

What I'm looking forward to - Thanksgiving and our Babymoon!!  The holidays are going to be so much fun while preparing for Rhett's arrival!

What I miss -Being able to stand on my feet for long periods of time.  It made for a tough day at the football game this weekend, and I know our vacation will require a lot of resting, but that's okay.

Emotions - A little emotional at times, but nothing too crazy.

Just a Friendly Household Competition

This past weekend was busy and fun filled for our family!  We started off on Saturday by going to College Station to see my dear Aggies take on the SHSU Bearkats; the hub's Alma Mater.  Since our schools are not in the same conference, we do not typically play each other.  So when we found out this match up was on the schedule, we made sure to buy tickets way in advance.  Good thing considering a little phenomenon named "Johnny Football" (look him up).

Basically all of Greg's family went to SHSU so I was definitely in the minority in our group, but not in the stadium!  We met up on Northgate for some lunch and Little Rhett made his first (of probably many) trips to the Dixie Chicken...I already say he'll be Fightin' Texas Aggie Class of 2034!

After lunch, we headed over to campus to check out the new SEC tailgating set up.  And I LOVED it!  If only they tailgated like that when I was in college!  I wanted to go over to the Alumni Center to take my picture with the big Aggie Ring.  The ring is new to campus since I was in school, so I had never had a picture by it before.

We also got to see the Corps of Cadets march into Kyle field before the game.  We even got a glimpse of beautiful Miss Reveille, the first lady of Texas A&M.

And then we finally made it to the game!  It was an absolutely perfect day for a football game...not too hot and not too cold.  I made sure to get a good picture of my latest crush, Kliff Kingsbury, the new offensive coordinator for the Texas A&M football team...swoon!

Although I was outnumbered in the family, my team came out on top with the win.  The Aggies are now 9 and 2, and we are so proud of our winning season as we debuted in the SEC!

Gig 'em!!

Naming Babies

Okay, okay, I confess... So we've had our Baby Boy named for quite a while.  But I figured since the nursery is finally coming together and I want to share it soon, then why not share our son's name also.  I would love to call him by name on here.
I told Greg when we got pregnant that I really wanted a boy and girl name picked out for the day we found out the gender.  I just hate the idea of calling them by "it" or, in our case, "Coco".  I loved Coco, but it also had a very feminine ring to it, so if the baby was a boy, he couldn't be "Coco" for long.  Over the years, I've always had baby name "favorites", but as time goes on, my taste changed, names got too popular, and of coures, I had to share the naming duties with my dear hubby.  Greg actually was very easy going when it came to baby names.  His only request was that in the case of it being a boy, he wanted a "strong southern name".  And I agreed!  Nothing like working to raise a Little Gentleman :-)
We had agreed immediately that if he was a boy, we would use Greg's mother's maiden name as a middle, and if it was a girl, we would use my middle name.  My niece has my mother's maiden name as a middle and I love the tradition of honoring someone in that manner.  Luckily, my mother-in-law has a great name to use as a middle!
As for the first name, its amazing the things that go through your mind when you are thinking of baby names.  I thought of whether or not I could imagine a grown man in the business world with that name, what his initials would spell (I've seen some epic fails in that department), and whether or not mean little 6th grade boys would find a way to butcher his name and make fun of him.  I even Googled the front-runner names to make sure there were not death row inmates or adult film stars with that name...haha!
So, after much consideration and thought, we would like to introduce to you, the soon to debut in early 2013....Mister
Greg and I are so pleased with his name and have been blessed with wonderful feedback from our friends and family!  Although we have not met our little guy yet, I have a feeling his name will suit him perfectly!

Happy Halloween

I know what you're thinking...we're 5 days into November and I'm just now updating about our Halloween.  I had big intentions of catching up on blogging this weekend but then before I knew it, the time had changed and it was Monday morning.  Oh, the time change... I still cannot get used to it!  Love the mornings, but hate getting home when it's getting dark.

Ok, back to Halloween!  After work on the 31st, we got together with all of our cul-de-sac neighbors for a little potluck chili supper as we prepped for the trick-or-treaters.  I love our street because everyone sets up tables in the cul-de-sac where we hang out, socialize, greet the little ghosts & goblins, and hand out candy!  It really is the perfect set up!  Our nieces stopped by to show us their cute costumes and have some chili with us.

I absolutely love seeing all of our friends' kiddos in their costumes!  It is hard to believe that next Halloween, we will have a little trick-or-treater of our own.  Don't think I haven't already started thinking about costume ideas.
