Link up Time...Halloween PJ Party

Happy Hump Day everyone!  Today I'm linking up with Darci & Meredith sharing our Little Ghost and Goblins in the Halloween PJ's!

Rhett received 2 sets of Halloween pj's from both of his grandmothers.  Both pairs are super cute but this hat was too funny not to share!  I think my little "Frankie" is pretty cute if I do say so myself!

Eight Months Old

Eight months old!  I can't believe it!  This has definitely been the fastest year of my life!  Rhett has changed so much in the past couple months (sorry for missing his 7 month update).

He's trying so hard to crawl, but mostly is scooting backwards.  I have a feeling he is going to be crawling around here in no time!  His personality is definitely coming out too.  I L-O-V-E our time together first thing in the morning.  He is definitely his mom's child when it comes to being a morning person!  He is so smiley and we spend our mornings laughing and playing together.  BIG NEWS...we have a TOOTH!  Just this week, that bottom chomper started poking through.  And luckily, he hasn't had any of the bad teething symptoms (knock on wood!).  This milestone makes me a little sad though...my baby is growing up (tear)!

Sorry for the slicked back hair...these were taken right after bath time

You can tell from these pictures, Mr. Man does not like to sit still these days.  Pictures are most definitely more challenging these days to say the least.  Rhett will continue enjoying these fall days and college football weekends.  The first birthday plans are already underway!  It'll be here before we know it!!

Back to the Beach

Last weekend, we packed the truck to the brim with suntan oil and lawn chairs (and a slew of baby products) and headed to Port Aransas, Texas to enjoy the Texas beaches.  This was Rhett's first trip to the beach but we knew he would love it since he enjoys the outdoors so much.  The beach bums included us, Greg's best friend, Terrence, and his wife, Terrence's family, Greg's family (including CiCi and Grandpa), and lots of other friends!  The house we stayed in was wonderful!!  It slept 26 people (WOW), had its own private swimming pool, and was just a hop skip & a jump to the beach.

The first day we arrived, we settled in and took a dip in the pool while we waited for everyone to arrive.

Friday we got up and headed down to the beach.  Organizing 18 people and all their "stuff" to go to the beach is quite a task.  The weather was absolutely perfect and we loved hanging at the beach!

Beach fun!
After we tired out at the beach, we all headed back to the house for some more pool time.

LOVE the picture with Grandpa in the top corner.

Saturday, some of us ladies were escorted by Mr. Rhett for some shopping.  Then we headed back to the house to join the rest of the crew for more fun in the sun.

David figured out that Rhett's float doubles as a hat!
That night, everyone showered up and headed to the marina to see Larry Joe Taylor in concert.  Rhett & I joined everyone for dinner, but headed home before the loud music started to meet Little Man's bed time.

What a fun weekend with great friends and family!  Our family will treasure the memories we made forever and we can't wait to bring Rhett back to enjoy the beach very soon!

Lake Sam Rayburn

A few weeks ago, Greg, Rhett and I hit the road to east Texas to meet my family at Lake Sam Rayburn.  Our family friends, The Jones', were sweet enough to loan us their beautiful lake house for the weekend.  What a treat it was!  The view of the lake was gorgeous and they even have a little beach to enjoy at the edge of the lake's waters.  Perfect for the kiddos!!  After the sun went down, we enjoyed the low(er) temperatures by sipping wine on the back porch and being entertained by two little blonde performers.

The first afternoon, we enjoyed the "beach" and waiting for the whole crew to get there.  Rhett even learned how great a beach nap can be!

Love the sweet picture of Greg & Kate, connected by the "noodle"
Do these girls have their Uncle Greg wrapped around their finger or what??
The second day, we took my Dad's boat out on the lake for some fun water sports.  I think motherhood had made me a big ole chicken because tubing is about as adventurous as I get these days.

That night, we went over to the country club for dinner.  The views of the golf course were gorgeous so we took advantage an got some great pictures.  Unfortunately, Mr. Rhett was feeling a little under the weather so we didn't get many smiles out of him.

Rhett's 6 Month Update

Happy Half Birthday, Mr. Rhett!

I can't believe our little guy is half way through his first year!!??  Six months old??!!  Why is this year flying by?

What a big month it has been for Rhett!  He has definitely hit some major milestones this past month.  He took 2 road trips and got to enjoy the beautiful waters that Texas has to offer.  And boy does our guy love the outdoors!  Rhett has started rolling like crazy and most mornings when I go get him, he has been sleeping on his belly.  He's also gotten good at sitting up on his own, unsupported.  It makes it nice because he can sit on the floor and enjoy all his toys.

Rhett has been enjoying lots of baby foods!  Until today, I could say that there wasn't a food that he didn't like.  But it looks like he's acquired his Daddy's distaste for avocado.  The mashed up goodness made him literally gag!  Poor thing.  I'm thinking it may have been a texture thing since the avocado was a little chunkier than the normal purees.  Maybe guacamole will grow on him ;-)

Overall, it has been a fun month!  Mr. Rhett is truly getting such a personality and seems to have a great disposition!  Rhett, your little smile brings me joy every day and I love you to pieces!!

Magical Montreal...Top Advisors Conference

I am so proud of Greg for qualifying for his company's Top Advisor Conference for the fourth time!  I was fortunate enough to travel with him to Maui last year where we brought home an extra special souvenir!

This year, we left our little Coconut home with the Grandparents and headed off to "Magical" Montreal for the conference and some much needed R&R!  Montreal was so beautiful and historical.  There are so many parts that look like they were plucked right out of Europe (or so it seems from the pictures).  I loved the Parisian influences and loved hearing the locals speak their native language.

Before the conference started, we spent a little time sightseeing and checked out their casino.  Greg, my little gambler, was none too impressed with their casino...let's just say it's nothing like Vegas.  We also saw the gorgeous Notre Dame Basilica, where Celine Dion was married.

Beautiful Notre Dame

When the conference started, they made sure to treat us to a great time!  We started off the weekend with a Montreal themed party complete with caricature artists, a photo booth, and a race car simulator...along with great music and food.  For the record, I took a lot of iPhone pictures at the events which meant lots of "selfies" in the hotel room before we left :-)

Greg & I getting our caricature done and Greg checking out the race car simulator
The next night, we went out to a wonderful dinner with his region and then out on the town.

On the last day, we went on a biking tour of Montreal.  What a great way to see the city (and get a little exercise in the process)!  There was so much history to take in and we enjoyed biking about 10 miles throughout the city.

That night, we attended the awards gala.  It was a wonderful event to wrap a great weekend and honor a talented group of financial advisers.

Selfie!!!

Congratulations Boys!!

Your Ladies are Proud of you!!

Rhett's 5 month update

Okay, okay...time, you can officially slow down now!  How is it even possible that my little man is 5 months old??  Well, more like 5 months, 1 week, but I'm a little behind on blogging.  This past month has been a big one!

We now have a roller, even though some times he doesn't realize he's even doing it.  It seems like when he attempts to roll over (awake) that darned arm gets in the way.  I know he'll have it before long though.

Rhett also started trying solid foods recently!   It has been so fun to see the reaction he has new flavors.  So far he's loving sweet peas, squash, and carrots.  The green beans seem to leave a lot to be desired.

This month, Rhett also enjoyed an extended stay away from Mommy and Daddy while we were in Montreal (more on that later).  He loved going to stay at CiCi and Grandpa's for a few days and even got to squeeze in an overnight stay at Granna and Grandad's!  Plenty of fun was had by Little Man.  I don't even think he realized we were gone between all the swimming, swinging, and playing with his cousin, Megan!  Thanks Grandparents for taking good care of our boy while we were gone!

Finally, Rhett is so close to getting this sitting up thing!  He loves to sit up like a big boy and play with his steering wheel (thank you CiCi!).  I just know as soon as he gets good at sitting up, he'll be crawling before we know it!

Rhett's Baptism

On Mother's Day, Greg and I had Rhett baptized.  Doing this on Mother's Day meant a lot to me, as I was also baptized on Mother's Day 32 years ago.

My Baptism Day
We were so honored to have Rev. Charles Ruehl come back from retirement to perform the ceremony. Rev. Ruehl is such an important part of our lives because he married us, along with my sister and brother-in-law, and also baptized both of our nieces.  He and his wife, Phoebe, are like a part of our extended family!

It was so wonderful to have both of our families there to witness this beautiful sacrament and celebrate Rhett.

Our Little Family

It was a gorgeous day, so we got some great pictures with Rhett's grandparents and aunts & uncles (and cousins too!).  This little boy is definitely blessed with so many people who love him!

This day meant so much to our family, as it is the beginning of Rhett's life in the church.  I am looking forward to many years of Sunday school, VBS, and children's choir for Rhett.  I hope that he is able to make the same church memories as a child that I did.

God Bless Rhett Warren

Who could not fall in love with this little face?

My First Mother's Day

I have to say that my first Mother's Day was better than I ever imagined!  It started off Friday when I took Mr. Man to school.  His teacher gave me the present that he "made" for me this week!  Talk about choking back the tears!  I have a feeling I will have this one forever.

On Sunday, we started our day off with Rhett's Baptism (a separate post on that later).  Greg and I were so blessed to have both of our moms with us on Mother's Day this year!  We all got together after church to celebrate Rhett as well as the Moms with a yummy Mexican meal.

After everyone left, Greg & Rhett spoiled me with my Mother's Day gifts...new crochet Toms and a DSW gift card.  Obviously, my boys know the way to my heart...through SHOES!

All I can say is that I am so thankful God blessed me with Rhett and I am so lucky to be his Mommy!  I could not love my little boy any more!
